Blues out to secure safety

Reporter: Reporter

NEWBURY BLUES hope to collect the points they need to secure the prize of safety in National League One when they play two home games in the space of four days.
Although Blues are 10 points clear of Otley in the third relegation place, that gap could be wiped out if Newbury falter in these two games – against Stourbridge on Saturday and Cambridge on Wednesday night – and when they make the tip to Otley on Saturday week.
“This game against Stourbridge is going to be a bit desperate,” said Blues coach Ben Sturnham. “We really need four or five points out of it.
“There's a lot going on with the teams behind us as well.
“Otley beat Stourbridge on Saturday, and I don't want to have to go up there still needing to win to be safe.
“But I don't think it will come to that.”
Prop Craig McGrath gashed his head in last week's defeat at London Scottish, but should be fit, while scrum half Jack Avery strained a shoulder in that game.
