A DENTAL practice in West Street, Newbury, which closed suddenly last month is to re-open its doors.
Following refurbishment, Westbrook House Dental Surgery will officially re-open on March 1.
The surgery closed in early January after, Oasis Dental care, which formerly owned it decided not to renew the lease.
Patients reacted in anger as Oasis gave them only a week’s notice of the closure and gave them the option to transfer to a dentist as far afield as Andover.
At the time, Oasis spokesman, Jonathan Welsh, said that letters regarding the closure had to coincide with the redundancy consultation process and the process of looking for a new buyer for the practice, which fell through at the last moment.
He said: “The lease on the property came up for renewal and before we committed to another 15 years, we looked at the practice’s performance and predicted performance, taking into account future changes to the clinical team.
“Based on this, we made the decision to seek a buyer for the practice, or close it.”
The new surgery will be re-opened by Dr Daniel Meroz, from Halford House Dental Surgery, also in West Street, Newbury, who will work alongside other dentists including long-standing Newbury dentist, Brendon Kindlon, who re-established Westbrook House Dental Practice in 1980.
