THE man killed at the Ufton Nervet level crossing yesterday (Tuesday) has been named as 45-year-old David Montague, from Woodley.

Mr Montague, a father of two, was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle was struck by a train at 1.10pm.

British Transport Police confirmed the identity of Mr Montague today as an investigation into the incident continues.

The Rail Accident Investigation board are currently interviewing witnesses and compiling a case.

A post-mortem is expected to be carried out tomorrow.

The Ufton Nervert level crossing was the scene of a crash in 2004 which resulted in the death of seven people when a train derailed after hitting a car parked across the line.

It has also been the scene of several other deaths and near misses in recent years.
