The one issue both of our guinea pigs had was the size. The manufacturer says you need to buy a size smaller than you normally would - so we put in orders for a size 12 and a size 8.
Both of these proved a little more roomy than either woman would have liked, not giving any kind of lift of the bottom or tuck of the tummy you would expect from jeans that make dress size dropping claims. As always it seemed a size 11 and a size 7 would have been perfect.
Rachel opted to drop one more size, to a size 10, and found it was far closer to flattening the tummy and giving that lean silhouette both women were striving for.
"I was in a size 10 for the first time since my early 20s and I’m all for a range called ‘kid yourself clothing’," Rachel said. "I don’t think I look as though I’ve dropped a jean size, but they are flattering and someone even complimented me on my rear!"
The jeans only come in one length - 33in (84cm) inside leg. For Sarah, at 5ft 4ins tall, this was a bit too long.
"The boot cut look is so flattering on your leg and hips but then I was left with a bunching of denim at my ankles which made them look like they didn't fit properly," she said. "Maybe just two different lengths could ensure even us shorter women can make the most of the jeans."
Sarah said that the test came when she asked her mum and her husband if her bum really had been lifted and her tummy looked flatter. Both said yes.
The jeans, made by Not Your Daughter's Jeans (NYDJ), come in black and blue/black and straight leg or boot cut. They are available in sizes 8 to 22 and are machine washable.
They are available to buy online from Gray and Osbourn and are priced at £100. For more details log onto www.grayandosbourn.co.uk.
