NEWBURY could soon be coming to a computer-screen near you.Eagle-eyed residents have spotted a Google Street View car travelling along Newtown Road towards the town centre yesterday (Thursday) afternoon. The little black cars, with their distinctive roof-mounted cameras stuck to them, take snap shots of towns and cities across the UK and allow internet users to get a 360 degree photo-like view of streets and neighbourhoods.Google has said it will be a huge benefit to the public, like helping people find a good area to live or idyllic holiday destinations. But the initiative has been shrouded in controversy and people across the UK have complained that once their neighbourhoods have been pictured and uploaded onto the Google maps, their children and homes can clearly be identified.Google has responded and said that faces and number plates are blurred and that all pictures are taken from public areas and is perfectly legal.Have you spotted the Google Street View car? Try to catch it in the act by taking a picture of it and emailing it to newburytoday@newburynews.co.uk
