Cyclist injured in Calcot hit and run
Mon, June 15 2009

Cyclist left seriously injured after he is hit by a van while waiting at traffic lights in Reading

A CYCLIST has been left seriously injured after he was hit by a van and dragged along the road.
The 24-year-old man was travelling along Bath Road towards Reading town centre on Thursday, June 4, at around 6pm and was hit by the van when he reached the Langley Hill junction, in Calcot.
While he was waiting at the traffic lights, a white Fort Transit flat-bed van crashed into him dragging him along until he was thrown over the handlebars. The vehicle did not stop.
Police and paramedics immediately rushed to the scene and the cyclist was rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital with serious injuries.
He has since been released and is recovering at home.
PC Craig Riley, who is investigating the collision, said: “The cyclist has been left with some nasty injuries as a result of this collision and is lucky that they were not more serious.
“I am trying to trace the driver of the vehicle involved in this collision. I would urge him or her to please come forward and help me with my inquiries.
“I am also trying to trace two people who stopped at the scene to help the cyclist. They may have some important information that can help, so I would urge them to please get in touch.”
If you have any information about this incident contact PC Craig Riley at Reading Police station on 08458 505505 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
