FALKLAND skipper George Trewby has warned his side that they must go on a winning run in the second half of the season to secure promotion.Trewby’s side ensured that their inconsistent first half of the season did not end on a losing note by holding Berkshire rivals Reading to a draw on Saturday, but the Falkland captain knows that the 28 points gap to Home Counties Division Two West leaders Beaconsfield leaves them with ground to make up. Trewby, who will recall Ronnie Dey and Chris Chander to the first-team for Saturday’s home match against Aston Rowant with Neil Gunter and John Chandler unavailable, said: “It is a big game for us as they are fourth and we are just behind in fifth. It is very close with all the teams up there at the moment, but we need to push on now and it is an important couple of weeks for us. “We are at the halfway stage of the season now and we definitely have a shout, but I do not think that we have peaked yet. There have been some good performances, but we need to put it together for three or four games now, if we could take something like 75 points from three or four games then that would really put us up there. “There are a few things that we need to improve upon, our fielding has been a bit sloppy. That can really change things and it is an aspect of the game that is often disregarded.” * Elsewhere, Thames Valley League Division One leaders Thatcham travel to North Maidenhead on Saturday with batsman Rakesh Patel recalled to the first-team after his impressive century for the second string at the weekend. Steve Wyatt and Danny Williams are unavailable for the trip and with skipper Duncan Johnson still undecided on who else will step up as a replacement. * Newbury face a Thames Valley Division Three A derby clash at Purley-on-Thames on Saturday with the aim of bouncing back after being knocked off the top of the table last weekend.
