THE VINEYARD at Stockcross has scooped another prestigious award. At a glittering ceremony in London on Monday night, it was announced that the two Michelin-starred establishment had won the Hotel Restaurant of the Year title in the National Restaurant Awards. It secured The Vineyard the number six spot on the list of the UK’s Top 100 restaurants. This latest honour for the acclaimed restaurant was based on votes cast by the National Restaurant Awards Academy, a panel of chefs, restaurateurs and food critics assembled by Restaurant magazine, creators of the awards. The list ranked the top 100 restaurants in the country and named 15 category winners such as Front of House, Highest New Entry and Best Gastropub.Paul Wootton, Restaurant magazine editor, said: “Restaurants live or die by their reputation, which can only be enhanced by winning one of these awards.“At a time when recession-hit customers are being cautious about where they spend their dining pounds, objective endorsement from industry experts is sure to encourage new visitors and extra spend.”He added: “All the winners have earned their place on tonight’s roll of honour by demonstrating outstanding culinary talent, hard work and a commitment to serve consistently great food. They thoroughly deserve their award.”Earlier this month Frenchman Daniel Galmiche took over the role of executive head chef at The Vineyard from John Campbell (pictured).
