TWO tries apiece for Craig McGrath and Martin Freeman helped an injury-ravaged Blues record easily their biggest win of the season at bottom club Manchester. The visitors dominated from the start, and youngster Sam Katz began the rout after just five minutes following a smart flick back from Liam Perkins. McGrath smashed his way through some woeful defending to add a second score from close-range shortly after, with Mitchell Burton adding the extras on both occasions. Winger Rhys Howells added a third score from Burton's smart pass midway through the half, before Perkins took advantage of some further non-existent tacking to go over from a lineout, Waylon Gasson taking over the kicking duties to convert the latter of the two tries. And Freeman bagged his first of the afternoon on the half-hour as he raced clear following good play involving Ien Ascroft-Leigh and Gasson, who missed with his conversion attempt. It proved to be an eventful few minutes for the scrum-half who, along with the home side's Matthew Rockey, was sent to the sin bin in the final action of the half for a few handbags after the home player refused to let go of his shirt as he tried to get back with the play. Blues were more direct after the break, and two tries in the space of a minute ended the game as a contest if it wasn't so already. With Manchester winger Myles Hall also sitting out 10 minutes for a deliberate offside offence, Finlay Coxon-Smith went over before Freeman scored the try of the match straight from the restart, running three-quarters of the field before touching down under the posts. Katz converted both with Gasson sitting out his 10 minutes. McGrath barged his way over from close range for his second score midway through the half, and Gasson, who added the extras, completed the rout late on when he converted his own try from a scrum close to the home line.
