X-FACTOR finalist Danyl Johnson has received the backing of pupils at the West Berkshire school where he used to work.Pupils and staff at the private Elstree School, in Woolhampton, describe the Reading singer as a popular, generous and inspiring teacher, who made dance lessons enjoyable and entertaining.“He was a very popular and relaxed teacher,” said Piers Thomas, aged 13. “The comments from Danni, Cheryl and the public that he’s cocky seemed rather harsh to me. Whenever he taught us he was always good fun and made dancing enjoyable.”Patrick Hoban, aged 12, added: “He was a very kind dance teacher who always made the lessons fun and exciting – we learnt some great dance moves!“I think Simon has been a great mentor and supported Danyl when he needed him.”Mr Johnson is not the first pop star talent to emerge from Elstree School.Singer-songwriter James Blunt was a pupil there in the 1980s and is remembered fondly for his contribution as head of choir.
