A MEETING will be held this morning (Saturday) for people interested in improving Victoria Park. The Friends of Victoria Park group will host the meeting and anyone with enthusiasm and ideas are encouraged to come along. As well as this the meeting will also aim to make the group a formal organisation.Fiona Walker of the Friends of Victoria Park said that she wanted it to be a group which achieved things rather than just talk about doing things. She said it was generally just refurbishment and enhancement works which she would be hoping would happen.Mrs Walker said: "We are very lucky to have Victoria Park on one side and Northcroft on the other side."I find it interesting how people are so passionate about the park - it's wonderful."Obviously the park cannot stay as it is because we need better provision."It is a very precious and valuable feature in the town."Mrs Walker also said that she thought there had been a limited opportunity for people to study the plans for the pavilion and that people needed to know a lot more about it.She said that she was also encouraging people to attend a meeting of Newbury Town Council on Monday, December 7 to find out more about the plans. The meeting will held in the town hall chamber at 10.30am.For more information contact Mrs Walker on 01635 40720 or at fkwalker64@btinternet.com
