Less than 50 per cent of primary pupils get first choice
Wed, March 10 2010

Figures released by the council show that 48 per cent of pupils got their first choice school

LESS than 50 per cent of West Berkshire pupils have been allocated a place in their first choice Primary School.
Figures released by West Berkshire Council yesterday (Wednesday) show that of the 2,435 preferences made by parents from West Berkshire, 1,163 pupils have been allocated a place at their first choice school.
This equates to 48 per cent of applications – an increase on last year, when 2,491 preferences were made, with 1,157 (46 per cent) of pupils allocated a place at their first choice school.
However, several families have expressed their disappointment at the allocation given to their son or daughter.

WEST Berkshire Council has now corrected these figures.
