A FORMER Brimpton man was narrowly defeated in the final of the Krypton Factor game show last night (Tuesday).Software engineer, Ed Brims, had been in the lead going into the last round, having won the gruelling assault course in the fastest time of the series, moving him on to a Krypton Factor score of 20.However, his three competitors were quicker to the buzzer in the general knowledge round, overtaking the 27-year-old former Oxford University maths student, who finished the show in last place with a Krypton Factor of 19.Mr Brims, who has a history of appearing on challenging television game shows such as University Challenge and Mastermind, had previously won his heat and semi-final of the ITV show with a Krypton Factor of 27 and 25 respectively.The overall winner of the show was 29-year-old energy consultant from London, Pete Thompson, who finished the final with a Krypton Factor of 27 – one ahead of 23-year-old research mathematician James O’Driscoll.
