AN amateur choir recently gave a performance to invited guests at Trinity School, Newbury. The Sing for Fun Newbury group was marking the end of their 10-week course under husband and wife team Jane and Craig Cole. The half-hour performance included an a capella version of Lean On Me in three-part harmony, an Abba medley, and Bill Haley’s Rock Around the Clock.Cabaret singer and vocal coach Jane Cole has set up groups in Newbury, Reading and Basingstoke because she believes that everyone can sing.“If you can speak, then you can sing. “It’s just a matter of learning a few basic skills and being given encouragement and motivation along the way.”There is a free taster session on Tuesday, April 27, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at Newbury Rugby Club, Monks Lane. There are no auditions and participants do not have to be able to read music.Click on the link above to see footage of the final performance and interviews with some members of the group.
