THE last British serviceman to serve in both World Wars has died at the age of 106. Captain Kenneth Cummins passed away at his home in Great Bedwyn on December 10. In his lifetime he served in the Royal Navy in WWI and the Merchant Navy in WWII and became captain of his ship. His wife, Rosemary Cummins, said: “He never seemed old to me. When he died it was like a ship slipping its moorings.” Mr Cummins celebrated his 106th birthday in March this year and toasted the celebration with a cup of tea Mrs Cummins, a district councillor, added: “It was a shock when he died, he was so full of life.
