Burghfield residents urged to attend meeting and help police and their partners prioritise top issues in the area

BURGHFIELD residents will get a chance to have their say on their community this week.
A public consultation meeting is being held on Thursday (March 8) at 7.30pm in Burghfield village hall.
The meeting will give residents the opportunity to say what they believe the top priorities in the area should be for the police and local authority.
The consultation will also be used to inform the Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) - made up of residents and representatives from the police and local authorities - which will then meet to decide how best to tackle the issues raised.
The meeting also gives people the change to meet the area’s new police community support officer (PCSO) Steve Pengilly.
Pc Nick Evans, neighbourhood officer for Burghfield, said: “Public consultation is an important part of neighbourhood policing and this is an opportunity for you, as a resident of the area, to come and tell us what you think we should be dealing with.

We can only address your concerns about the area if you come and tell us what they are, so please come along

Pc Nick Evans
“These may be issues relating to crime, such as anti-social behaviour or drug use, or they may be wider issues for our partner agencies such as littering, dog fouling or speeding - whatever you think we should be focusing our resources on.
“We can only address your concerns about the area if you come and tell us what they are so please come along.”
Pc Evans added that the meeting would identify and prioritise the top three issues in Burghfield, but wouldn’t discuss how to solve them, as this is the job of the NAG.

* A Neighbourhood Watch meeting has been arranged for new schemes in the Wash Common and South West Newbury area.
It will be held in the main hall at Park House School in Andover Road, Newbury on Tuesday, March 13 at 7.30pm.
Pc Jo Pomphrey will be attending.

* A Neighbourhood Watch meeting is being held on Wednesday, March 21, at 7.30pm in St John's Hall in Mortimer.
Pc Nick Evans will be speaking at the meeting.
