A NEW fleet of disability-friendly buses will hit the streets of Newbury next week. The new-look vehicles will be painted in Newbury Buses' new green and silver colours, and will feature super-low floors and wheelchair spaces. The bus company has invested £1million in ten four-year-old vehicles which will replace their current 15-year-old high floor, step-entrance, single-deck buses. The new fleet features light and airy interiors, easy to clean surfaces and quality seating. They are scheduled to be phased into service from next Monday (July 16).Tony Jones, chairman of Newbury Buses' owners Reading Transport, said: "I warmly welcome this investment as a vote of confidence in the important provision of quality bus services in the Newbury area. "We are seeking to deliver services and transport solutions which will encourage growth in bus patronage. Bus use is 10 times more environmentally friendly than equivalent journeys by car."
