A veterinary nurse accused of pointing an imitation gun at a teenage girl has been remanded in custody. Philip Bonney appeared at Oxford Crown Court in connection with the alleged incident and with having a cache of weapons - including throwing knives, samurai swords, and BB guns - in the flat above the surgery where he worked. The 26-year-old, who has been dismissed from his job since his arrest, was refused bail by Judge David Morton Jack. Prosecuting, Jane Davis said Bonney had been arrested when police raided his flat above Pangbourne Surgery in Horseshoe Road, Pangbourne, where he had been training to be a veterinary nurse. He has since been dismissed from his job. Bonney's father, Christopher, a former soldier, now working as a civil servant offered to stand his son's bail and house him at the family home near Devizes, Wiltshire, but Judge Morton Jack refused and remanded him in custody until March 17. Bonney was charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of a sharply-pointed article. He did not enter any pleas. The case was adjourned until March.
