ENGLAND and Arsenal FC striker, Theo Walcott, had a kick-a-round with pupils from his old primary school yesterday (Wednesday) after presenting the school with two national awards. Compton Church of England Primary School on School Road was the first primary school in West Berkshire to receive the Eco Green Flag award after they took on an allotment and other green-fingered projects. As well as the eco award the school was awarded a Healthy School Gold award for its work with pupils on healthy eating, physical activity and personal and social education. As a talented footballer, year six pupil Kieran Collins, aged 11, wrote to Theo to ask him to come and present the awards. Theo said it was brilliant to see some old faces at the school. “It puts a smile on my face to see how much it means to the children and all the staff here,” he said. As a new ambassador for the Football Foundation’s Junior Kit scheme, Theo also presented the school with a new £400 football kit. He said: “I think you feel better when you’re in a nice kit and I could tell by all the smiles on the kids faces when they got their kit.”Click on the video link above to see an interview with Theo Walcott.Click on the link below to see more photos.
