CAMPERS will be hoping the wet weather holds off this weekend as real ale and music festival, Shalfest, gets underway. This year the event has moved from Shalbourne to a site in Henley, Wiltshire. The main acts include Boy Kill Boy, headlining on Friday, July 4, and Idlewild followed by Killer Queen the following night.Organiser Larry Sargent said there have been so many bands and artists keen to play the event that this year a marquee for live music is being set up, for acts to play during main stage set changes. Kiddies fun rides and, weather permitting, a few adult ones too will provide additional entertainment. The field has a capacity to hold about 5,000 people and organisers are hoping to draw in as many people as possible. This year’s Miss Liberia will put in an appearance as will singer WHO, who won a battle of the bands competition in Liberia owing to Shalfest sponsors' business interests in the West African country. There were several heats to the competition which started with about 100 musicians and the battle was publicised extensively in Liberia.A short video will be shown on a large screen above the stage to give an insight into Liberian life and the difficulties faced by many people in one of the poorer parts of Africa.Entrance to the festival camping and parking areas will be from 3pm on the Friday and 9am on the Saturday.People can enter the arena from 5pm on the Friday and 8am on the Saturday. You must wear your entry wristband at all times during the festival and the bar will operate on a tokens system.Tokens will be available for purchase when entering the site and also from a location near the bar. You will be able to obtain a refund for any unused tokens.Take only cash with you as it is unlikely that ATM machines will be on-site.Organisers advise against you bringing a dog as it will not be permitted into the main arena, but only into the camping and parking areas. The festival location will be at Moordown Farm, Ashley Drove, Henley, near Marlborough, Wiltshire.Shalbourne is the nearest village and is located four miles south of Hungerford. It is just off the A338 and approximately two miles from the site.Pre-booked tickets are cheaper than purchasing them on arrival and also save you time at the entrance gate, so visit www.shalfest.co.uk online to book now. The line-up currently stands as follows: * Friday Nightprowler (6pm-7.30pm) The Echoes (8pm-9.30pm) Boy Kill Boy (10pm-11.30pm) * Saturday Same Old Faces (12.30pm-2pm) Life at the Pines (2.30pm-4pm) Liberian band (4.30pm-5.30pm) Dr Teeth (6pm-7.30pm) Idlewild (8pm-9.30pm) Killer Queen (10pm-11.30pm) NB: All times are subject to last minute changes.
