Crime spree prompts police appeal

Police appeal for witnesses after a number of crimes in and around Newbury so far this week
 

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a number of incidents in Newbury this week.
At about 6.20pm on Saturday (14), a caller from Mayfair Drive disturbed an intruder after coming downstairs.
The offender had gained entry via the side gate and then entered the house through an open rear conservatory door.
The offender was described as a white male, wearing a black hat, dark clothing and possibly wearing navy Adidas trousers.
At about 23.30pm on Saturday (14), a caller from Catherine Road, reported that a suspicious male tried to get into their property but was scared off by the owner's dogs.
The male was described as around 5ft 4'' and was wearing a black hoody, dark grey jeans and black shoes.
Three cars parked in Gloucester Road were broken into overnight between Saturday (14) and Sunday (15).
A male was arrested nearby after one of the vehicle breaks was witnessed and the police were called.
At about 23.55pm on Sunday (15), a caller from Howard Road was disturbed after he heard noises outside his property.
He found the security light on and saw a figure outside by the window.
The figure ran off after the man shouted and no trace of the offender was found in a subsequent area search.
Sometime overnight between Sunday (15) and Monday (16), two vehicles were broken into in Link Road.
It is believed the offender(s) gained access to the vehicles by smashing one of the windows.
At about 1am in the morning on Monday (16), a caller from Rockingham Road reported that she had been awoken by her car alarm.
The car had been parked in a parking lot at the back of Rockingham House.
She witnessed two males making off. Three other vehicles had been broken into.
At about 2am on Monday morning (16), a caller from Blenheim Road reported that they had disturbed offenders in their back garden after hearing noises and seeing torch lights.
It was found that the offenders had jemmied the lock of the shed door and stolen two bikes.
Police are warning residents to ensure all windows and doors locked at all times.
