Greg Rusedski
Tennis ace opens Ramsbury sports facility
Thu, April 30 2009

British tennis star Greg Rusedski coaches Ramsbury youngsters as he opens new centre

TENNIS star Greg Rusedski opened a new £750,000 pavilion at Ramsbury Recreation Centre on Saturday, April 25.
The former British player coached the junior members of the club before opening the new facilities, which have been paid for by fundraising events in the village over the past five years.
Chairman of the sports club, Ian Smith, said that the opening event had gone well and that Mr Rusedski had been impressed with the facilities there and the high standard of the children’s tennis.
“He was quite enthusiastic about the kids and the tennis set-up there,” he said. “Visitors thought the facilities were fabulous and they were very well received.”
As well as the official opening by Mr Rusedski and benefactor Sir Martyn Arbib, visitors watched netball, cricket and tennis matches and enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea in the pavilion.
The project was threatened in January when vandals smashed eight of the pavilion’s windows, but Mr Smith vowed not to let the damage stop the opening.
