What’s new in fashion

The crocuses are out which means it’s time to wave goodbye to the winter wardrobe and give a warm hello to all the fresh new colours and styles that herald the arrival of spring.

Luna boutique, with branches in Newbury Parkway, Hungerford and Marlborough, is right on the button this season, and one of the most exciting brands in store is D.E.C.K. by Décollage.

Created by one of Ireland’s leading fashion houses and combining a unique style with comfort for a light French-Italian touch makes the brand a must-have label for every woman.

Colours that everyone is sure to crave this season are ultra-feminine and impossibly romantic: white, cream, stone, taupe, sand. Warm things up a little with pretty peach, soft pinks and blues, or go warmer still with a delicate coral. If you want to add a splash more colour, do it with prints. Bold florals in particular are hot, hot, hot … and definitely not the sort your granny would have gone for, back in the day.

Whether your hips are curvy, boyish or somewhere in between, there is a style to suit you. Straight off the catwalk come shirtdresses, stylish and comfortable for the office, as casual wear or easy to dress up with heels to take you into evening. Look out for easy-to-wear tunic tops and loose-stitch, lightweight knits, perfect when teamed with capri pants, super-slim trousers or everybody’s friend – loose-fitting linen pants.

And linen, of course, never goes out of fashion; D.E.C.K. has a whole range that will take you from spring through to summer: chic, cool shift dresses and flattering flowing dresses if a less structured look is more your thing; the cutest of soft blazers as a cover up, with a subtle sequin trim on the collar to add a hint of glitz.

Once you’ve discovered D.E.C.K.’s basic range there is no looking back. Cami tops come in two lengths, the longer one fabulous as a tunic or short dress if you’ve got curves in all the right places.

Their fitted-at-the-waist structured long-sleeve T-shirts make a great base for many outfits, and their crisp white shirts teamed with skirts or trousers make for a very clean line that never dates.

What are you waiting for? Hot-foot it down to Luna, browse at your leisure and try on to your heart’s content – and if you want a second opinion the staff in each of the three stores love to advise.

But be warned … Luna owner Caroline Mainwaring insists on only stocking a small number of each item so snap up what your heart desires when you see it. Goodbye dull winter. Hello beautiful spring!
