The late Princess Margaret, the Queen's younger sister, paid a visit to Mary Hare Grammar School for the Deaf at Arlington on 11 May 1995, in order to officially open the new sixth form centre.

Princess Margaret renewed a long-standing acquaintance with Mary Hare Grammar School on 11 May 1995 when she officially opened the new sixth form centre. As a 17 year old, the Princess had opened the school when it first moved to its Arlington Manor site, and remained a lifelong patron. Staff and students were on hand to wave and cheer.
