Donnington Priory is holding a Summer Art Show on Saturday and Sunday, to raise money for Thatcham-based Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, which provides training and education on mental health. Proceeds from sales commission on the artworks will go to the trust, which was set up in 1998 in memory of Charlie Waller, a young man who took his own life while suffering from depression. The show is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and 10am to 2pm on Sunday, at the auction house in Oxford Road, Newbury.

The trust’s vision is of a world where people understand and talk openly about depression, where young people know how to maintain wellbeing and where the most appropriate treatment is available to everyone who needs it.

It aims to:

·         equip young  people to look after their mental wellbeing

·         help people to recognise the signs of depression in themselves and others so they know when to seek help

·         ensure expert and evidence-based help is available when people need it

It does this by:

·         delivering talks to young people and those who work with them about how to stay mentally well

·         providing training to primary health care and other professionals in identifying and supporting those with depression

·         providing training and self-help resources to universities and student-led organisations to promote resilience and mental wellbeing

·         supporting research and teaching in evidence-based therapies at the Charlie Waller Institute at the University of Reading
