'Inspirational' Thatcham mother up for top award

A THATCHAM woman who launched a local branch of a leading children’s creative activity franchise has been nominated for a top award.

Carol Jackson is in the running for the prestigious What’s On 4 2015 Junior Awards having set up the Creation Station West Berkshire in September 2013.

The franchise is committed to inspiring children’s imagination through award-winning arts and craft exploration and discovery.

The educational experiences are based on the Early Years Foundation Stage and provide positive shared experiences for children and their parents/carers to enjoy together.

Mrs Jackson, a mother of two, recently won a Top Inspirers award at The Creation Station National Conference and was named as one of the Top Inspirers 2015, having worked with more than 1,000 children in the last year at weekly sessions, arty parties and events.

The Creation Station West Berkshire is now waiting to hear the outcome of their recent nomination in the Most Outstanding Activity Leader for the under-5s – South category.

Winners are to be announced on Friday, June 19.

Mrs Jackson said: “It has been incredibly hard work running the business alongside the needs of my own family with two young children, so it feels amazing to receive recognition in the form of these awards and nomination.

“I love seeing the children at my sessions each week, watching their confidence increase and their skills develop as the weeks go by.

“Their excitement and enthusiasm is truly heart-warming to be a part of.

“Thank you to all the families I’ve met over the last 20 months at sessions, parties and events – I’m looking forward to inspiring many more imaginations in the future.”

The Creation Station West Berkshire is available for parties and events throughout West Berkshire and weekly sessions run during term time on Mondays at Leap Frog Ceramics in Thatcham and on Fridays at Eddie Catz in Newbury.
