TWO fire crews were sent to Argos at Newbury Retail Park this morning (Saturday) after a light fitting in a stock room caught fire.

The crews were mobilised at around 11.30 and staff and shoppers had been evacuated by the time the pumps, both from Newbury, arrived at the scene. The fire had been extinguished, but a significant amount of smoke remained inside.

A thermal image camera was used to detect the cause of the fire.

Crews remained at the scene for around one hour to ensure it was safe.

No-one was hurt in the incident.
