NORTHCROFT Leisure Centre's popular outdoor lido is now open to the public.
The historic pool dates back to 1870 and at 71.8 metres is the largest outdoor swimming pool in the county.
With the outdoor changing rooms newly refurbished, visitors are being encouraged to take the plunge and enjoy a fun summer in the outdoor pools, as well the popular ice cream kiosk.
It will be open from 7am to 8.45am and from 11am to 7pm during the week and from 10am until 6pm at weekends.
West Berkshire Council's executive member for leisure, Keith Chopping, said: "The popularity of the outdoor pool never wanes attracting over 1,000 visitors per day when the sun shines. Leisure Centres are important community facilities and I am delighted that this lovely Lido is now open for the summer."
Centre manager at Northcroft, Marcus Cobb, said: “Following poor weather in May staff have been working hard to get the pool ready for the summer season but thanks to the efforts of all involved we look forward to good weather and another busy summer.”
Last year the opening of the pool was dogged by problems.
Firstly it was delayed owing to groundwater works needed after the site flooded at the start of 2014. The opening was put back again when "technical issues" were discovered while filling the pool.
