POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a Newbury party erupted into violence.

Two men have been taken to hospital following the 'violent' incident involving 40 people in the early hours of this morning (Sun).

At 12.50am, police were called to reports of a disturbance at the party at the Crucible Sports and Social Club on Hambridge Road.

Two men, a 24-year-old and a 20-year-old, were assaulted and required hospital treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. 

One man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and GBH. He is currently in police custody.

Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses.

Investigating officer, Det Con Emily Trevillion of Local CID based at Newbury, said: “I would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident at a party and police are investigating it thoroughly."
