Police make five arrests in connection with criminal damage and theft

POLICE have arrested five teenagers in connection with a series of incidents of criminal damage and a theft in Tilehurst last week.


Officers were called to a disturbance in Talbot Road at 11.35pm on Wednesday, July 22 after it was reported that a number of people had caused damage to the front window of a Tesco store.


Police were also made aware of an incident of shop lifting from the store and also damage to a blue ford Fiesta which had been kicked and had a window smashed.


The group had left the area by the time officers arrived but were tracked to a nearby location by a police dog unit where the arrests were made.

A 16-year-old boy from Tilehurst, a 15-year-old boy from Pangbourne, a 15-year-old boy Tilehurst and a 16-year-old boy from Reading were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property, while a 16-year-old boy from Tilehurst was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop.


All five have been until September 12.
