A man has been arrested after a woman in her 60s was sexually assaulted in Newbury.

The 61-year-old was touched inappropriately over her clothing as she was walking down Mill Lane towards Bone Lane at around 12.50pm on September 28.

The man is described as black, aged in his 30s, 6ft 4ins tall and stocky.

Investigating officer, PC Robert Cowell, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a woman in the middle of the day.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen this or someone acting suspiciously in the area shortly before it happened to contact police as soon as possible on 101.”

A 38-year-old man from Newbury has been arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault of a female age 13 or over and has been bailed until November 12.
