Firefighters called to chemical smell near Newbury Racecourse

Firefighters were called to a reported chemical smell at new houses by Newbury Racecourse yesterday (Friday) evning.

Two fire engines from Newbury Fire Station were called at 9.50pm, to Chattenham House, Racecourse Road.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus inspected a bin store and discovered left over painting products, and brought three pots of paint out of the store.

Firefighters left the scene at 11.30pm.
