One lane of the A34 at East Ilsley northbound was closed yesterday evening (Sun) after a wheel of a camper van caught fire.

Two pumps from Newbury Fire Station were called at 7.15pm to the A34 slip road at East Ilsley and firefighters used a hosereel to extinguish the blaze.

The camper van was moved to the grass verge.

No-one was hurt.

Police were also at the scene.

The A34 was fully re-opened after about half an hour.
