OVERNIGHT roadworks on the M4 will be put back by two hours tonight (Thursday) to ease traffic congestion after Reading FC’s match against QPR at the Madejski Stadium.

The works between junctions 10 (Wokingham and Bracknell) and 11 (Reading) are expected to last for five nights and have meant the motorway has been closed in both directions between 9pm and 6am since Monday.

However to allow both home and away fans an easier journey home after the game tonight’s closure will be from 11pm.

The roadworks are part of the Shinfield Eastern Relief Road construction and will see a new six-lane bridge put in place over the M4 which is hoped will ease congestion by diverting through traffic on the A327.

Signed diversions will be in place via the B3270 and A329.
