Four people had a lucky escape in Tilehurst yesterday (Tuesday) evening, after an electrical fire broke out in a car dashboard.

Two pumps from Dee Road Fire Station in Tilehurst were called at 6.30pm to Tilehurst Road, after a fire broke out in the dashboard on the driver's side.

Four people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by firefighters.

Firefighters extinguished the fire with a hosereel before leaving the scene at 7.30pm.

The cause was put down to an electrical fault.

The road was partially closed during the incident.
