Woman taken to hospital after falling in river

A WOMAN was pulled from the water after she fell into the River Kennet at Northcroft in Newbury.

The drama happened at the Northcroft monkey bridge at around 4.30pm on Wednesday. Police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene along with an air ambulance.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene and she was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

The monkey bridge was closed during the incident.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “We were called to the scene at 4.25pm after reports that a woman was in the water. She was pulled from the water and has been taken to hospital.”
