VIDEO - Watch eleven ducklings make the jump from shop rooftop in Newbury

IF you're of a nervous disposition, you might want to look away now.

Eleven ducklings got themselves in a spot of bother on Tuesday morning when they jumped from their nest onto the roof of Fabric Land.

However, under the watchful eye of their mum, the ducklings then, one by one, took the leap into the car park below. Remarkably, 10 of the 11 ducklings escaped unhurt – but sadly one didn’t make it.

Employees from the appropriately-named business Natures Corner put blankets on the floor to try and cushion the duckling’s fall.

Simon Hooley filmed the dramatic 10-minute event on his mobile phone.

Mr Hooley, who works for PinkGreen Creative in Northbrook Street, said: “The ducklings had jumped from their nest onto the roof. The mother went down first and the rest of them followed.

"They are tough little things. They seemed to just bounce off the floor then dust themselves off. It was incredible.

“Once they were all down they had a little huddle, regrouped and followed their mum down to the wall and down towards the canal. I wanted to help but also didn’t want to scare them or startle the mother, so sort of left them to it.”
