THE A34 is closed northbound between Chieveley and Beedon following a single vehicle collision this morning (Fri).

Emergency services, including police and ambulance, are currently at the scene.

The road has been closed since 7.30am this morning and is causing huge delays during the rush hour period, with queues reportedly stretching back as far as Newbury.

The car involved in the collision is said to have flipped onto its roof and police say that the driver is being treated for 'minor' injuries.

Police hope to have one lane of the A34 reopened shortly.
