Organisers hoping for bigger and better event

Newbury Real Ale Festival is near

THE barrels are being rolled out for Newbury’s Real Ale Festival, which returns next month.

Organisers hope that the 170 beer barrels and more than 120 ciders, topped off by a selection of English wines, food and live music, will attract a record number of punters.

Now in its 13th year, the event will raise money for Naomi House and the Newbury and Thatcham Hockey Club.

The festival is organised by volunteers from the club and local marketing agency, Media Fusion.

As usual, it will be held at Northcroft playing fields, starting at noon on Saturday, September 10.

More than 6,500 people attended last year’s event, drinking 20,000 pints between them.

Organisers said that this year’s festival boasts a larger site with an increased capacity.

Entrance to the event is priced at £10, which includes two drink tokens, with no charge for children.

Pre-sale tickets are now available and include an additional drinks token to the “on the door” ticket.

The pre-festival Ale Trail started on Friday, August 5.

They can be booked from www. newburyrealale.co.uk where fur-ther information on the event is also provided.
