Chimney Fire

FIREFIGHTERS from two counties tackled a workshop blaze in Lambourn Woodlands this afternoon (Tues).

Six fire engines, including four from Berkshire, were called at 3pm, to Ridgeway Grain Ltd, on the Membury Industrial Estate.

On arrival, firefighters discovered flames leaping from the roof of the building, measuring 5m by 5m.

A drum of oil was discovered on fire inside the workshop, which was not situated near any other properties.

No-one was inside the workshop and no-one was hurt.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using two main jets.

The workshop, containing tools,  was destroyed in the incident.

The cause was put down to accidental.

Firefighters left the scene two hours later.
