Protest, dig and village show going on this weekend

Boxford's second Big Dig open day is being held today (Sunday).

The Big Dig is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and has been investigating a site thought to be Roman.

However, a few days digging has turned up not only Roman remains, but Iron Age ones too.

Volunteers come from Boxford, the Newbury area, East Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and even from as far afield as Massachusetts.

Parking is available in a field on the Leckhampstead Road a mile out of Boxford, just before the M4 bridge. The nearest postcode is RG20 8DY.

The fete will be held in Hannington's Field, Island Farm Road, Ufton Nervet (RG7 4EZ) between 11am and 3pm.
