Trains cancelled following fatality at Tilehurst Station

THERE are severe delays to the rail network between Reading and Didcot Parkway following a fatality at Tilehurst Station.

Emergency services were called to the scene following the incident which occurred around midday today (Wednesday).

Some trains have been cancelled with others delayed delayed by up to 60 minutes.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "We have been called to Tilehurst station after reports a person was struck by a train. Police were alerted just after midday.

"Officers are currently on scene alongside local ambulance however a person has sadly been pronounced dead.

"We are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Great Western Railway say some lines have since reopened between Reading and Didcot however passengers should expect delays while the incident is ongoing.
