THE cause of a motorbike blaze on the A339 in Newbury yesterday (Friday) evening remains under investigation.

Two fire engines from Newbury were called at 7.30pm to the A339 southbound between junction 13 of the M4 Chieveley and the Vodafone roundabout, where the bike, believed to have been a Suzuki, was well alight on a grass verge.

No-one was hurt and firefighters searched the area, but could not find any motorbike owner/rider.

A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze using a hosereel.

Police were also at the scene.

One lane of the A339 was closed during the incident.

Firefighters left at 8.30pm.
