DO you know a community champion?

West Berkshire Council has opened its Community Champion Awards, which recognise the valuable contributions local residents make to West Berkshire.

The categories are the Pat Eastop MBE Junior Citizen of the Year Award; Volunteer of the Year Award; Community Group of the Year Award; and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Junior Citizen Award has been presented since 2001 but was renamed two years ago after Mrs Eastop, who played a significant role from the award’s inception.

Winners can either be individuals or groups and can be nominated by anyone; you don’t have to live in West Berkshire to put forward a nomination.

For more information visit: www.westberks.gov.uk/communitychampion

The closing date for nominations is Friday, October 28.

The awards will be presented by the chairman of West Berkshire Council, Quentin Webb on December, 8 and winners will be recorded in the Roll of Civic Award book.
