New era for Hungerford's John O'Gaunt School

IT’S official – John O’Gaunt School has become a member of the Excalibur Acadmies Trust.

School head boy Jacob Tyler, aged 15, wielded a giant pair of scissors to cut a ribbon at a ceremony at the school in Priory Road, Hungerford, on Friday, September 30.

The school has joined the trust following the best GCSE results in its history.

The multi-academy trust was set up in 2012 and stemmed from a successful parent-led community project.

West Berkshire Council’s executive member for education services, Lynne Doherty (Con, Northcroft), said: “We are proud to have supported John O’Gaunt School to this pivotal stage.

“We wish them the very best in their new venture and feel confident that they will continue to provide an excellent learning environment for local children.”
