IKEA death under investigation

The identity of a man who was killed in a work-related accident at IKEA Reading last week has been named. 

He was Joaquin Palacios Fernandez from the city of Salteras in the province of Seville, Spain.

The 41-year-old contractor was killed while working on a hydraulic goods lift at the Calcot store at around 2am on Wednesday.

An inquest into his death was opened today (Monday) however, the cause of death has not been revealed.  

The accident is being investigated by Thames Valley Police and West Berkshire Council's environmental health team. 

No arrests have been made. 

The store was closed all day last Wednesday while an investigation was carried out.
