Flood advice event being held today

FLOOD protection advice will be offered to West Berkshire residents today (Thursday).

A Flood Fair will be held in Pangbourne Village Hall from 4pm until 8pm.

The event has been organised by the Pang Valley Flood Forum in conjunction with the Pangbourne Flood Group.

Representatives from the Flood Advisory Service and Environment Agency will provide advice on protecting homes from flooding.

Flood Re, the Government and insurance industry initiative, will also be on hand to answer flood insurance queries.

Companies displaying flood risk reduction products will also be in attendance.

Pang Valley Flood Forum chairwoman, Kay Lacey, said: “This is a great opportunity to make sure you are prepared before we get the worst of the winter weather.

“We were extremely lucky last year.

“Had the weather fronts been further south, we might have experienced some of the awful flooding that affected counties such as Cumbria.”
