BOWLS, biscuits and brews are being offered to West Berkshire residents tomorrow (Thursday).

Get Berkshire Active is holding a free session of new age bowls at West Berkshire Indoor Bowls Centre between 10.30am and 11.30am.

The group is working with Age UK, Mencap, Berkshire Vision, Alzheimer’s Society and The Community Resource Centre to increase physical activity provision and tackle social isolation of older and vulnerable adults.

Community physical activity manager Nick Rance said: "We are offering the chance for people to try ‘New Age Bowls’ and have a social cuppa at the same time.

"New Age Bowls uses lighter, softer balls and are brightly coloured making it great for people with joint or vision problems. It can also be played seated or standing allowing for everyone to be able to play.

"Any type of physical activity is good for you, no matter how gentle and just getting out the house can have real benefits."

The ‘Ever Active’ partnership will also be hosting a series of community open days in the new year where West Berkshire residents can try out more physical activity sessions such as tai chi and golf. Dates are January 23 (Northcroft), January 25 (Lambourn), and January 27 (Cotswold).
