Feeling festive at Shaw House

IT’S not long until December 25 – but Santa managed to take some time out from his busy schedule to hand out presents to children at the annual Christmas fair at Shaw House on Saturday.

More than 1,000 people got into the festive spirit by wrapping up warm to browse the 60 stalls, featuring displays from local crafters, bakers, artists and photographers.

There was something for the younger visitors, too – 120 children were entertained by Mr Muddles the charming, if muddlesome, magician.

Hampshire-based mobile farm Miller’s Ark provided a live nativity scene with sheep, chickens, goats and donkeys in the grounds of the house.

Children also had the opportunity to brush and feed the animals and there were wood-turning demonstrations from Vallis Green Woodworking.

The 3rd Newbury Scouts were on hand with bacon rolls and hot soup to keep the crowds warm.
