THE stage is set for the Hennessy Festival.
Racing’s very best will be showcased at the three day event, starting today (Thursday), at which 30,000 people and a host of celebrities are expected to attend.
The highlight of the festival will undoubtedly be the historic Hennessy Gold Cup on Saturday in which Lambourn trainer Nicky Henderson has two entries, outsiders Triolo D’alene and Hadrian’s Approach.
Those with a passion for fashion will also be catered for, with a row of ‘upmarket shops’ being set up next to the Parade Ring.
A spokesman for the racecourse, Andy Clifton, said: “It’s going to be a fantastic three days. We are looking at a big crowd again this year with around 17,000 expected on the Saturday alone, plus the waether is meant to stay dry, which always helps.”
Actor Martin Clunes, TV presenter Cilla Black, Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford, comedian and actor Jennifer Saunders and former Spice Girl Melanie ‘Sporty Spice’ Chisholm are among the celebrities expected on Saturday.
